I painted this picture during a time of great turbulence in my life, a time filled with moments of profound change and uncertainty. Yet even as everything around me was changing and my life was, in a sense, turned upside down, I came to understand, through the process of painting, that everything is as it is meant to be. That all moments are fleeting: the light and beautiful ones, just as much as the difficult and painful ones.

This painting revealed equanimity to me, and through it, I was able to give equanimity a face of my own.
