I remain endlessly fascinated by the many different forms and structures in which existence reveals itself—and by how the same unchanging essence underlies and animates them all.

For me, the poem quoted above captures this beautifully. It is also why I love photography and observing forms and structures. When I allow myself to be touched by the world through these eyes, stones become soft and grass becomes firm. And yet, beyond softness and firmness, there is something that reaches further still: a beauty that has neither form nor structure, yet is present in every form and structure.
